Asia Pacific Community Music Network (APCMN)

The Asia Pacific Community Music Network was formed at the ISME Conference in Beijing in 2010. It is closely affiliated with the ISME Community Music Activities Commission. The network serves as a vehicle for activating relationships, developing cross-cultural partnerships for community music activity, and disseminating research about community music in this region. The network is not restrictive in terms of geography, but rather includes anyone with ties or an interest in the region.

The network are working towards a regional seminar at the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo (November 2011), and a presence at the upcoming 2012 CMA seminar in Greece and 2013 APSMER Conference in Singapore.

The structure of the group consists of a ‘core’ group of starting members, an ‘action’ working group, and a ‘network’ group open for anyone who is interested:

Core members (former or current CMA commissioners): Dr. Sylvia Chong (Singapore), Dr. Mari Shiobara (Japan), Dr. Brydie-Leigh Bartleet (Australia)

Working group members: Dr. Steve Dillon (Australia), Dr. Errol Moore (New Zealand) and Chris Mau (Japan)

Advisers: Phil Mullen, Dr. Kari Veblen & CMA Chair Dr. Donald de Vito
